About
People First Bridgend is committed to the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. We work to support people with a learning disability &/or autistic spectrum disorder to have more choice & control over their lives.
We are the leading specialist in learning disability and ASD in Bridgend, with over 20 years of supporting this particular client group. People First is an international self advocacy movement. The first People First Convention was held in Oregon in October 1974, its name being derived from the comments by a pioneer self advocate saying they objected to the constant use of the words “retarded” and “handicapped". Since this conference the People First movement has spread around the globe.

Our Values
At People First Bridgend we strive for excellence and our aim is to make sure we help as many people with learning disabilities or who have Autism spectrum disorder as possible.
Our organisation has been open for over 20 years and in that time we have helped countless people with support from our staff.
We want decisions to be made by our members for what they want. It's time the stigma around learning disabilities/autism disappears and is no longer.
