Our Advisory Team members tell us what makes them proud!
Toni's Story
Self-advocacy and the PFB Advisory Team have made Toni feel “wanted” and “accepted”.
“I feel more free… in the Advisory Team you can be yourself. Everyone's friendly—that’s what I like”.
Toni feels understood by staff and members of the Advisory Team. She also feels confident to actively speak up and express herself.
Before joining PFB, Toni felt that she couldn’t walk to the shop alone. Self-advocacy has given her with the skills to make friends with others and to feel more confident in her daily life.
Toni says: “I feel confident now”.
Advocacy Success Stories
Leanne's Story
Before coming to PFB, Leanne says she was shy. She spent lots of time in her bedroom.
Leanne's advocacy skills have led her to enjoy college. Before coming to PFB, she was too anxious to speak with her classmates.
Now, she talks to other students: “I’m the one who’s confident talking to him [a quieter classmate at college] … I said to everyone else “lets talk to this guy… he hasn’t got many friends”.
